2011 - 2012 LEGISLATURE
SENATE SUBSTITUTE AMENDMENT 1,
TO 2011 SENATE BILL 209
February 23, 2012 - Offered by Senator C. Larson.
SB209-SSA1,1,2
1An Act to create 20.370 (6) (ba) of the statutes;
relating to: financial assistance
2for local recycling programs and making an appropriation.
Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau
Current law requires a municipality to operate a recycling program to manage
solid waste in compliance with certain criteria, except that a county may assume this
responsibility in place of municipalities within the county. The Department of
Natural Resources administers a program that provides financial assistance to local
governments that operate recycling programs that satisfy the criteria specified in
current law. The program is currently funded from the environmental fund.
This bill adds funding from the general fund for local recycling programs in the
amount of $13,000,000 in each fiscal year of the current fiscal biennium.
